ENTWINED hosts two side events during Rio +20

On June 16 and 17th ENTWINED will host two side events at the Global Compact World Forum on Sustainable Development.  With six years in development and global field testing, the Committee on Sustainability Assessment (COSA) launches its first global report looking at what standards and certifications are actually achieving.

Making Sustainability Standards Work for Those Most in Need. If sustainability was a business, how would it be run?

Every month, billions of dollars of products are traded with certifications that are considered as proxies for being sustainable. As the market value and importance of these voluntary sustainability standards grows, it is increasingly important to ensure that the environment and those most in need, namely the rural poor across the developing world, are positively impacted by the market transition towards “sustainability".

Title : Certified Green—The Role and Impacts of Certification in the Green Economy
Every year, consumers spend billions of dollars on products with environmental and social
certifications and they are growing very fast. What is their role? What impact do these labels have After 6 years of work, a long-awaited independent review of the impacts of various Sustainability Initiatives will be launched at Rio. The Committee on Sustainability Assessment (COSA), using state of- the-art methods in a number of countries, shares the sometimes surprising results.

The presentation will be followed by a panel discussion with a respected leaders and luminaries that will provide insights into what some of the more innovative policy makers, foundations, and private companies are doing using certification and other approaches to create a green economy.
